Talent is everything in that business. A popular local radio guy here got fired from a successful radio station because of work place violence. A red mark left on his producer's neck after some on air insult that none of us heard. We figured that was it for him. He was hired by a station I hadn't heard of, and most or all of his sponsors (and listeners) went with him. I've tried the old station on my morning drives a few times. They keep trying new talent but I can't help holding them to the standard set by the old guy, Peter Boyles. That station is going down. It's kind of sad to watch. Peter Boyles is the most well read and articulate radio talk person I have ever listened to. I've listened to him off and on for at least 20 years. He's seventy years old and going as strong as ever in his new position. I just reset the button on the radio. His new employer is set to do very well now.

This is starting to sound more like negotiating strategy than any serious intent to drop these guys. THAT we'll see about. What we WON'T see about is whether Limbaugh continues to own talk radio. He will, for as long as he wants to do it. No one else is even close. As if talk radio is special. People like Limbaugh 'own' talk radio because the rest of us have moved on to you know........teevees, movies, the internet, etc. We gave Limbaugh talk radio...........he can die there.
