>> Businesses have near zero accountability

Yeah, tell that to McDonalds which had to pay some $3,000,000 for overheating its coffee.

Tell it to GSK who was out $3 BILLION for its actions with respect to Wellbutrin. Or Harley Davidson who settled for $10 Million after a defective throttle caused some guy not to be able to get it up anymore.

Tell that to physicians all over the country who have been sued so heavily that malpractice insurance is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, expenses in almost every medical practice.

When a business is sued and coughs up money, whatever problems are there are pretty much going to be fixed. When government is sued and coughs up money (as it did today when it was ordered to pay $4 Million to a guy who was imprisoned for four days without food or water), NOTHING HAPPENS. They write the check, out of your bank account and mine, and you cannot even find who was responsible for the incident.

That doesn't often happen in business -- if someone screws up badly, heads will roll. That is accountability. When it happens in government (as with Lerner at IRS), they get $100K in bonuses, a promotion, then three years on "Paid Leave" until the heat dies down.

It has been all over TV for the last couple days about how idiots in our county sheriff's office allowed a dangerous prisoner to escape. Do you think anyone will be fired over THAT? No way. Incompetent teachers are not fired, they're put in "rubber rooms".

And you think GOVERNMENT provides better accountability than BUSINESS?
