They cannot know anything short-term material. It can only be a long-term purchase. Smart or stupid (think Aubrey) - who knows. :)

Good question, but either way it should be a good long buy and hold. Copper prices should eventually rise and the drilling should pay off. But, the stock price hasn't performed well for too long. I own some BHP that also is down about 17% and don't need to own both. I did take half my BHP off the table when it was in the 80's last year so own it mostly with profits. I may just wait for a market correction where I can pick up FCX below 27. In the interim can they maintain the divvy.
