Hi Nancy and Alan, Nancy, I'm going to look at the scripture you quoted from our Lord, "as long as heaven and earth"....that is perfectly clear, and I had never thought about that before, as with all scripture, you don't need them til you need them.
I have a Strong's Concordance, really hard to read, huge old thing with small print and makes me dizzy, but it has proved to be worth it's weight in gold. I will look just to make sure that is as clear as it now reads. I don't see how it could be much clearer now that you bring it up. I think I'm going to look up almost every word in that scripture just to be positive. That rather solves the puzzle I think that Jesus did not intend that we would purge the history of Judeism from our memory, and have nothing more to do with it ever.
Alan, I posted to Emile to see if he would be willing to teach on the Talmud, because now I am as curious to see if the creations of men along the lines of goofing around with the original Old TEstament are anywhere near as off, and plain EVIL, as the things people have done with the teachings and life of Christ, the reality has been absolutely mutilated all over the place. It is beyond blasmphemy. It is horrible. I would like to look at the other side to see if there is similar intent in the minds of men. I just suddenly want to look at the Talmud myself. I really want to.
But I was mentioning to Emile about the balance of the Old Testament versus the New, and I can't possibly see them separated for a minute. I have to have the balance of the Father in Heaven as He was. We get mixed up in our teachings I think sometimes, as I know some people who love Jesus who are frightened almost to consider that Jesus is not God, the only God, and always was the only God, and is the God of the Old Testament, and ascended unto Himself. We were speaking of this not long ago on this thread, and we weren't too off or mixed up, but I have been around some serious error. Hard to explain how illogical it can get, but this is what people present by their ideas: That God is Jesus, Jesus is God, They are One, They are the Same there is no difference, there is only one God: God/Jesus.
But.....
Did God in Heaven leave Heaven completely. Came to earth through a woman's stomach, and then, did he enter the womb at the time of conception, or right at the moment of birth, which?
That's a hard call to make. Because then God would have to be in the womb gestating while heaven was empty of God. And if He wasn't, then was there just an empty, soulless shell of a baby in the womb? Or another soul, but God replaced it with himself at the time of birth?
NOW LISTEN, anyone who might be reading this, if you are, I'm not being smart eleck. I'm saying that this is the only way it could have happened if God is Jesus, and visa versa, as some have ended up with believing as a certainty. That JESUS IS GOD. THERE IS ONLY ONE. It's like the Muslims and Allah, except that we take two totally different conceptual beings and we shove them into One, even though They Themselves never did that I can see, except figuratively, as I and my father are One. That is not the word for the same person/diety. Again, I'll check the strongs on that, as I never have before.
Point I'm making here. OBVIOUSLY we have the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. The one who made the Garden of Eden to live in and then had to erase all of His first creation by natural disaster flood and start again with what appears in the Bible to be the only decent man left on earth, and his three sons and their wives to repopulate mankind.
No one in my Christian walk has ever, and I say ever, suggested for a second we do away with the Old Testament. The most die-hards I know on the New Covenant, and that alone, and only the New Covenant, is the Calvary Chapel group, and they are about as right on as it gets, I do believe. Chuch Smith who founded it only passed on the absolute ritual they follow in every single Calvary Chapel on earth to start at Genesis One and read through Revelation, and teach on it, and that's the sermon. Period. And they are flourishing and growing and I love them. Each Bible reading takes each church over a year at least, then they start all over. They end up knowing the Bible, I'll tell you.
So, again, I believe Emile knows of something very wrong which should be brought to light, and that probably is the false teachings of the Talmud. They can't be based on scripture, and if they aren't, they are totally in even more error. I have to see with my own eyes, and I would love to compare them to the real Old Testament.
But in my post to Emile I realized that there is a check and a balance between the Father and the Son. They are two separate beings, and the Bible makes this clear in every way, from start to finish. Jesus is the shining star of the Bible, but there is the One that Sits on the Throne and without Him I lose the concept. And to throw out the Father in Heaven, that just seems unworthy of discussion, so I believe that the idea of the New Covenantt has been taken totally to an extreme which upsets the natural spiritual order God intended. I would go to my death on that, I think, and be perfectly in God's will to do so.
But, again, I love my brothers and sisters in Christ, and if they are going to take one scripture and run with that alone, that is between them and God and He will be the one to correct it. Or perhaps these things are used to make us all see what we believe versus what the Bible has been written to clearly state what is, lest we should dream something new up.
Again, I could not any more stand on the New Covenant of Jesus Christ, Him crucified, and Resurrected, and having thereby paid for my sins and bought my way to heaven than I presently do. I am a new creature in Christ, and live by Him and In Him and personally plan to spend eternity following him around within 2 feet at all times. Probably would have to go to my death on that one too.
I hope we can get on to the next stage here. Jesus lived to point all humans to HIS Father in Heaven.
So who was Jesus referring us to and why didn't He say at that time that it had all been hard to explain, but He was also the Father, and somehow had entered the womb, etc. And that there was nothing now but me, Jesus.
No. I'm seeing right now more than ever that we have been slowly for about 20 years now trying to do away with the Heavenly Father in the born-again world. I've mentioned this over and over but no one seemed to catch on. How clever. If you can't take the Body away from Jesus, how about taking the Heavenly Father away while no one is watching.... I'm seeing something darkly here, like in a mirror, but I am seeing it quite clearly at that. Hard to put in words.
But I know this and this only. There is one record of the Father in Heaven on the face of the Earth. There is only one history of Him. There is only one people who ever spoke of him. There is only one people who made Christ a reality to me by leaving it in print for me to find. And there is only one group of people, most of whom died gruesome and horrible deaths, who ran around the known immediate world telling people about Jesus while yet they lived. And they told a lot of people, and eventually word got to me 2,000 years later. That would be the ...... the.... let's see, it's on the tip of my tongue... oh! Yeah.... Now I remember. The Jews!
This is a very important study for ALL of us Alan. Thank you for hanging with it. Truly All Things Work For Good For Those That Are In Christ Jesus. This is a very important discussion for all of us Alan. Thank you so much for hanging in here. Remember that All Things Work Together For Good For Those That Are In Christ Jesus.
