I've stated here in the last week that unions had a time and place. But today, those environments exist as a product of federal regulation, NOT as a product of unions. While unions may have pushed for particular legislation, we no longer need unions to guarantee employee safety, fair labor standards, etc.

And unions have become economically counterproductive to a point where they harm more workers than they help. We don't have to legally bar them, but neither should we be forking over the assets of secured creditors to them in corrupt bankruptcy actions.

That is, as a nation, we should not encourage unions at this point in time, because they do more harm than good.
