>> ..they demanded that FDR cut the deficit:

You don't know your history. It was FDR, PERSONALLY, who believed the spending had to stop. Not the Republicans as you claim.

From the GOP convention in 1936:

There is need for the old-fashioned idea of thrift. A review of the mounting debt shows appalling figures. There has been an increase of over fourteen billions. The budget must at once be put in balance and reduction begun in the debt. Those essential assurances, which will inform business there is no inflation to be feared under Republican rule, will start in motion the wheels of industry.

The question is why was unemployment STILL at 14.3% in 1937? After 7 LONG YEARS of devastation.

It was the Great Depression. What part of an economic disaster do you not get? And who was in charge before the Depression.........well not surprisingly.......the two presidents prior to the start of the Depression were Rs.........Hoover and Coolidge. And who did Americans not rehire in 1932............Hoover. Who did Americans rehire 3 times.......FDR. Enough said.

That's they end of your economic lesson for today. Now go study the facts.
