I think the great recession and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have broken the American spirit.. Yes all that plus chronic high unemployment, ugly politics in the age of Obama and the realization by many we haven't had a solid real economy left to grow naturally on it's own merit since Bill Clinton left office and 9/11 hit. What's interesting is that the major reason for the country's growth under Clinton was the initial tech boom. Well tech is booming again and yet, its impact doesn't seem to be moving beyond the cities that are the tech centers in this country.......at least not yet.
