Tawana Brawley Finally Begins To Pay For Her Lies After 25 Years (here's your local hometown girl Shep, you people sure know how to raise them there in Hudson valley)

Took 25 years, but she finally was tracked down. What happened to you if you were in charge of this race-bait fest, as was Al Sharpton? Well, you never had to hide, someone else pays your court judgment, you continue to race-bait and you get a job on MSNBC.

Via NY Post:

Twenty-five years after accusing an innocent man of rape, Tawana Brawley is finally paying for her lies.

Last week, 10 checks totaling $3,764.61 were delivered to ex-prosecutor Steven Pagones — the first payments Brawley has made since a court determined in 1998 that she defamed him with her vicious hoax.

A Virginia court this year ordered the money garnisheed from six months of Brawley’s wages as a nurse there.

She still owes Pagones $431,000 in damages. And she remains defiantly unapologetic.

“It’s a long time coming,” said Pagones, 52, who to this day is more interested in extracting a confession from Brawley than cash.

“Every week, she’ll think of me,” he told The Post. “And every week, she can think about how she has a way out — she can simply tell the truth.”

Brawley’s advisers in the infamous race-baiting case — the Rev. Al Sharpton, and attorneys C. Vernon Mason and Alton Maddox — have already paid, or are paying, their defamation debt. But Brawley, 41, had eluded punishment.

She’s now forced to pay Pagones $627 each month, possibly for the rest of her life. Under Virginia law, she can appeal the wage garnishment every six months.

The media giants have abdicated their journalistic responsibility of speaking truth to power and authority. I didn't complain during the previous administration because I expect open skepticism and criticism in the public forum where Political Power is concerned and that is what we got. Power corrupts ... period. Now media giants have been empowered to move generations to support political agendas without even a healthy regard for balance, skepticism, or truth.

Where has authority placed power in modern times? The current rules in place work for the wealthy, powerful, privileged, and the entitled, which are now extremely politicized. It isn't that the rules are so unjust, it is that we have enabled abuses to the spirit of our laws. If you attempt to criticize the unfairness of one, the politicos point the finger at the other and the discussion becomes mired in irrelevance.

Power in the name of what is just, good, and shared with all is the only path to reclaiming a government by, for, and of the people. The MSM is not on board. The MSM has been losing its audience because they are failing in their primary mandate. Some are on the verge now of going under financially, and it can't happen too quickly IMO.

The Latest Benghazi Leaks..What Difference Did They Make?

Monday, August 5, 2013

By Barry Rubin

Image this. It was well-known that in 2011 the United States was facilitating the weapons supply to Syrian rebels. The weapons were paid for by Qatar and Saudi Arabia and delivered through Turkey.

We have known for more than a year on this traffic. There were two big UN Reports on this traffic.( By the way this meant that the United States was arming Muslim Brotherhood and Salafist groups.)

What wasn’t known was a simple detail: the United States was also collecting and shipping the weapons.

That’s it! This is what was being concealed. After all, it was openly known previously that the Libyan rebels against Qadhafi were armed by the United States.

The whole mess was unnecessary!

If it was known that the CIA guys in Turkey weren’t just watching the weapons supply but delivering it, to quote Clinton what difference would it make?

Would Congress have stopped the weapons’ traffic? No, they wouldn’t even do anything about the arms to Mexican drug gangs that killed Americans?

Would Americans rise in revolt? No.

Would it have cost one percent of the votes in the election? No.

Sure, some bloggers would have talked about parallels to Iran-Contra and a handful of members of Congress would have complained but the massive media machine would have ignored it and the majority of Republicans would have snored.

Did President Obama have to lie in a UN speech saying the ambassador was just there to supervise a hospital and a school? No.

Did a video have to be blamed so as to blame Americans and Islamophobia for the attack? No.

Was the cover-up necessary even to defend the administration’s “perfect” record against terrorist attacks on Americans”? No.

The expose of this arms’ supply channel would have bothered few and changed nothing. But since we knew already that the administration was helping arm anti-American, antisemitic, anti-Christian, and homophobic, and anti-women Islamist terrorists I don’t think the difference was huge.

Did the cover-up have to lead to the refusal to defend properly American personnel to prevent what they were doing from leaking out? No.

In short this program of lies and deception and cover up wasn’t even necessary. Those Americans may have been rescued and those lies might have been avoided with no harm to the administration.

I think that tells a lot about how the Obama Administration treats and manipulates the American people. And it also tells about its very profound incompetence and ignorance.

Wake up call to MSM.
The Boston Globe has been sold to Red Sox owner John Henry for $70 million in cash, a fraction of the $1.1 billion paid for it by the New York Times Co. in 1993.

http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-mo-boston-globe-sold-20130803,0,290959.story

Check, Please: Huffington Post Sold to AOL for $315m

With the sale of the website that only began life in 2005 for $300m in cash and $15m in shares, the creation of a new media giant will send shockwaves through established news groups still struggling to understand the uncharted territory of online news.
