Of course he was fundraising in 2012, and of course he was going to exceed the other Presidents. The political fundraising landscape changed in 2010 with the Citizens United decision. How the heck else would he win reelection when someone like Sheldon Adelson could suddenly spend $150 million against him? What Obama is doing now is no different than what Obama did in his first term. You can claim that all of the campaigning and fundraising during that time was aimed toward his re-election, but (a) that's typical politics, which the "transformational figure" should not have succumbed to, and (b) he's STILL campaigning even after securing his re-election.I didn't miss that. He's right -- he cannot pass anything at this point through the House that would help the economy. He's even offering up corporate tax breaks now (yuck) and Social Security cuts (double yuck) to try to extend an olive branch. But the Republicans are the ones that are saying "no no no," and "take it or leave it." The "party of no" accusation isn't new; in fact, it was the same accusation leveled against the Democrats during the Bush era. But both Obama and the Republicans are taking it to a whole new level. I would believe that Obama is trying his best to accommodate Republicans if he actually demonstrated some leadership and resolve to get things done. Instead, he keeps complaining about factors beyond his control. This is no different than the way he behaved during his first term, and after 4.5 years of being president, he really should know how to deal with hyperpartisanship. Even his "olive branches" are being thrown halfheartedly like bones to dogs. He really needs to get down to the nitty-gritty and stop patronizing his opposition, because in the end, it's HIS legacy that's at stake.>But it is clear that Obama isn't doing anything but campaigning. I never saw this much campaigning in the first year of a president's 2nd term. Have you? Why, as a matter of fact I have... presidentialrhetoric.com That link lists none of Obama's campaign speeches even after November 2012, when he went across the country trying to "campaign" his way out of budget negotiations.I see some insults there... excuses? Nah. One of the biggest excuses I saw out of you was the notion that if Obama made deals with individual Republicans, he'd expose himself to insults like the "Cornhusker Kickback." Cause you know, Obama can't lead because those oh-so-nasty Republicans might call him names. Go cry me a river. Tenchusatsu
