>You and I are old enough to know that even this is no longer a valid excuse.

It's not an excuse, it's the truth. You're concern concern trolling.

>What would you do in situations like these? You would rather be "damned" for doing something you believe in, right?

The hostage analogy is so spot on. Was just watching the first episode of Dollhouse last night. The star was a hostage negotiator who realized that one of the three hostage takers was actually going to rape and kill the girl, and that the other two hostage takers were just in it for the money and thought the third one was too. So, instead of negotiating with the first hostage taker, she told the other two in no uncertain terms what the first one was planning to do. The two of them shot the first one, and let her rescue the little girl.

By "campaigning," as you like to call it... Obama is informing the voters that no matter what doublespeak they spout (OBAMA WANTS TO TAKE AWAY YOUR MEDICARE!!!) the Republicans want to take what they want and still kill the hostage. It's better than having to have tire rims and anthrax for dinner.

>What does Obama believe in, other than wishing that everyone just stepped to his tune, a wish that he has revealed in no uncertain terms?

You mean the guy who's been putting Social Security cuts, Medicare cuts, and corporate tax cuts on the table? That sure ain't stepping to my tune. But that's what he thinks just might get business done. Or at least show the American people that the Republicans have no intention of doing business. Because they don't.

There is no win-win situation with you guys. So we've gotta beat you. Plain and simple.
