"you'll learn about the commonalities between all the ideologies on the left"

Which, despite conservative denials and revisionist history, don't include Fascism.

Whatever, Joe. I don't think you'll find any sources from the 1930s or 1940s that would call fascists or Nazis "leftists." Soviets, yes.

We've all got our baddies. You can try your ass off to throw them all in with the left, but you'd be wrong.

Many on the left didn't see where Lenin and Stalin were going. Many on the right didn't see where Mussolini and Hitler were going. We all made mistakes.

Granted, even my parents weren't alive when those guys were, but fine, I'll accept something for what the Soviets did, even if not much,

An economist/historian friend of mine says that when you go all the way to the left and all the way to the right, the two eventually meet. That's basically what's up here.

I think we all can agree that Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Mao, etc all sucked. So let's leave them out of the discussion.
