I don't think we can go any further here. You, IMHO, are convinced the welfare model (going forward) is an essential part of the safety net mix, and I think it is at the heart of the problem of generational impoverishment.

Look. First you are putting words in my mouth. I never said any of the above.

Secondly, you theory about generational impoverishment has a serious flaw; impoverishment among blacks existed well before there was welfare. In fact, impoverishment continued after welfare was established because blacks were not able to get welfare.

It is also part of the political logjam mentality in Washington as liberal politicians can't afford to offend their welfare constituents and conservative politicians can't resist it as a "red meat" item for theirs also.

Oh BS. Clinton had no problem making changes to the welfare program.

So we are stuck for the present in as system that offers little benefit or hope to future welfare generations.

And that's because welfare is not the problem. People turn to welfare because they have run out of choices.

My hope is that the problems it is causing in impoverishing people will become so great that we as nation will be forced to take a fresh look at it.

lol. The problems of the black community have been severe for decades. Whites don't care so long as blacks don't riot.
