I love Dateks speed. Suretrade is ok for $7.95.
Webstreets free trades on 1000 shares at $2.00+ cant be beat.
Waterhouse's system was so slow it was useless for me and I closed my account.
Important thing that nonones mentioned is WHICH market maker does
various discounters use .
NBD= SHWD
ameritrade= NITE
Datek= soes & isld
Suretrade= NAWE
wEBSTREET= NAWE
Freedom = FAHN
Personally I think one has a better chance of buying on the bid
or selling at the ask when using a firm that uses MASH or HRZG
oBVIOUSLY, SCHWAB=MASH
My primary broker (Regal) allows me to specify where I want orders
to go..HRZG,MASH,ERNS,MHMY or selectnet. That is valuable to
me even if the commissions are a bit high.
Obviosly none of this matters with bb stocks.
Oh..and I've noticed with Datek that market makers go out of
there way to avoid filling ISLD orders. Thats one bad thing.
Best thing about Datek is the speed ! Plus the abilty to screw market
makers at their own game . (Dont ask...figure it out yourself)
