One day a guy came to the canteen window about 2:00 PM. I would sell lemon aid, hot dogs, and candy bars while I was doing my cleaning job. He demanded a beer, but I told him the beer hall wouldn't be open until 3:00 pm. He got angry and told me, "Hey, I just hiked all day down that trail to this hell and I deserve a goddam beer." So, I said I was sorry, I didn't realize what he'd just been through. I suggested he continue on down the trail for about a quarter of a mile, then turn up phantom creek until he came to the liquor store where he could buy all the beer he wanted. He said, "fine" and headed down the trail with a determined look on his face. I went to my cabin for a nap. My girl friend laughed until she cried. Was that you?
