>> The power lines controversy was a huge one back in the 80's, and even today the fear still lingers even though the "science" that created the controversy in the first place has been completely debunked.

I had this paranoid country guy as a client and I remember he had me over to his house one day. We walked outside and he says, "Do you hear that? That buzzing? It is coming off that power line over there." I couldn't hear anything. He said, "It just drives us nuts. I'm going to sell this damned house. This place has Radon all over it, too."

The dude knew how to make money, but he sure was suspicious of everyone and everything.

"Even Bentway, who fancies himself as a "devil's advocate," would never advocate an action that could harm Mother Earth for future civilizations."

You're exactly right Ten. We should be stewards of the Earth. We should begin by lowering our ridiculous overpopulation of the planet.

Yes, there was fear by some that high tension lines were linked to cancer. And they were, but as research showed, they weren't causal. When science established that, the concerns receded. Unlike wing nuts like you who greet scientific proof that your theories are all wet as signs of a massive conspiracy...

Which illustrates a major difference between liberals and conservatives. Liberals adjust their beliefs to reflect the facts. Conservatives want to adjust the facts to fit their beliefs.
