George Corley was a Dem cuz the South was solid Dem when he was young. When the Civil Rights Bill passed, the South became solid R. Many D's became R's. George Corley ran as a segregationist D in the primaries, ran Third Party in '68, then ran and wheelchaired as a Dem again in '72.
