My wife grilled some chicken for dinner tonight. We ate it with a spinach salad with avocado slices on it. Loved it. Unbidden, she told me she's glad I liked the dinner, because chicken was getting expensive. I laughed, recalling the conversation we had on this thread. So my curiosity was, as you can imagine, instantly piqued. So I asked her how much it cost. She said about $7. I asked her how much chicken did that buy and she said about 1.2 pounds of skinless, boneless chicken. Was it organic or anything special? She said no, it was the cheapest she could find on the shelf from the Target store. I asked her how much did she used to pay. She said for the longest time, she remembered it being about $3.50 for the same kind and amount of chicken. I said when was it at that price last she can remember. She said around 2009.

So in 4 years, the cheapest boneless, skinless chicken you can find at Target, has doubled in price.

Target isn't a supermarket.
