Yes, I think Oregon will give it as good a shot as any state can.

I suspect that what has happened with CoverOregon is management decided that with the clock ticking it was time to start building brand awareness, hence the billboard that sprouted in my town last week. But unfortunately, the website ain't quite ready for showtime.

That's unfortunate, because given that Obamacare is so contentious, it would help greatly if they didn't contribute to misunderstandings. There must be quite a few people, self-employed and in my age bracket who treat insurance the way I do, and if they strayed onto the website they would have found the same thing I did, which would lead them to believe that indeed Obamacare was a disaster on the order of what right-wing blogs have been predicting.

It was kind of funny, because the guy walked me through the online calculator, got the same result I did, and when I pointed out what my current premium was, and that his result was nearly 4x, he started squirming. I suggested maybe the calculator results were bogus, but he defended them as being reasonably accurate. Then he tried to persuade me that the new policies were "better quality products" so I should just be happy. I told him that was BS. Then he decided to visit the site I linked which has the proposed rates, and indeed, those are much different than his calculator, so he started offering up other excuses. I suggested he add a disclaimer to the calculator results, so that those straying by to learn about Obamacare didn't get mislead. He said it would all work right on Oct 1. TWT...
