Obama let the banks take advantage of the situation and if they get rid of Fannie and Freddie the banks will take advantage of us once again, I fear.


I have no quarrel with your historical recap of the housing lending crisis--we just draw different conclusions from it.

To me Fannie and Freddie were/are part of the problem, and if I've understood what Obama has said about it he thinks they are too.

The Banks can be controlled if we put enough teeth in the rules. It will make the loan process more time consuming than it has been, but that's as it should be if we want to verify the borrower's ability to pay.
