The new more powerful Lithium batteries do the job. A new hybrid with these batteries I hope will be the standard and go mainstream as it is so practical for those who don't want nor can afford an electric car. Can't wait to see the specs of next generation Prius next year. I get about 55 mpg overall and I have a small Nickle battery with only 2-3 miles of pure EV driving range. I can imagine the next generation will get easy 20 miles on pure EV and probably 90 mpg+ overall. Also remember no change in driving patterns, no charging stations, no range anxiety worries , nor additional pressure on the utility grids..

Well, for me, I'd get the car charger installed in my garage. I never drive more than 50 miles in a day, so these types of cars are perfect for me. Anyway, it'll be awhile yet. Those cars are awesome, though.
