The odds of a foreign company aquiring a local telco are less than Latrell Sprewell winning the Nobel Peace Prize for 1997.

It is likely there will be attempts at consolodation between American owned facilities-based and/or wireless telecoms. Could be stock swaps, not necessary to be cash. And don't knock ISPs out of this strategic picture.

The regulatory and legal envioronment may not be ready for this yet though. No way MCI will allow itself to depend on and pay inflated access costs to an AT&T owned local Bell in the prime markets like those currently controlled by SBC.

Personally I think SBC will emerge as predator rather than prey.
