<<re: 3Q estimates may reflect the charges already announced. 4Q would not. Lehman has , IMHO been very accurate on this stock. I would take this as, if not a preannouncement, at least a sign that uncertainty lies ahead.>>

sl: That's the problem. These analyst have too much clout after they meet with the company. We don't know what they have been told.

The company IMO shouldn't disclose anything to them that it wouldn't disclose publicly. I would rather have the company say nothing and just pre-announce publicly or give information publicly, than to filter anything through Sands, Lehmans, H&Q etc.

There is no way I will accept filtered information from an analyst at face value. Not after watching these guys in action.

I don't however, have a problem with what Lehman's said in the report, it in fact sounded reasonable. Its just the idea we don't know what they were told by the company. We don't know when they were told it. We don't know what Lehman's will say next. But if I can be assured Lehman's wasn't given material information from the company then I wouldn't care what they say next.

I agree uncertainty lies ahead. However, if you read the fine print in the Lehman report there doesn't seem to be any reason for the cut in earnings other than that they fear the discounting will spread to the OEM market. I still think that they were covering their you know what. Especially when they say in the report that management has made no change in their guidance.
