If anything, the IAEA inspection regime in Iraq gave Iran precisely what it needed -- breathing room -- to further its own nuclear programs. It is somewhat humorous to me how one of these talking-point concepts, like "Iraq was a buffer for Iran", is spouted by some liberal and it just spreads like wildfire, forever established in the left wing vernacular as though it were a "truth".
