While there are more whites on welfare, the percentage of whites is less than the percentage of blacks. Why do you think that is? What is different about whites that prevents them from going on welfare? Actually, I think the Rate of whites going on welfare is rising faster than the rate of blacks going on welfare right now, but I'll have to get back to you on that one--tommorrow maybe. If that is true it may mean that we can't say anything differentiates the two groups--just that both racial populations that need welfare are unable to support themselves. But this is premature---lets see if later I can find out the rate. What do you expect to happen if we cut welfare? i expect that the rate of unwed mothers will decline for all racial groups.
