Clearly, in some cities, you can get much more, cheaper and closer to center. :)

I think that's going to change. I think many American cities will become more like European cities......well cities like SF and DC.....probably Boston too..........already emulate the European model.........the central city is the most expensive part of the metro and the suburbs are where the less well off live. In most American cities now, the most expensive parts are well to do suburbs. I think that is what's changing to a degree. However, I think for most cities the change will be very gradual.
