I want schools to be run effectively and cost-effectively, like successful businesses. I want the employees, particularly teachers, to be held accountable for their actions and held to standards professionals are held to. And they should be paid based on performance; lousy teachers shouldn't get to stick around. But, as Michelle Rhee showed in DC, it is exceedingly difficult to do because of parents who don't demand more of teachers.
