>> Let's see.........teachers make less than other professionals;

They make less than some, but far more than others. But their jobs are for a fraction of the work and are far less demanding. And, as I pointed out last week, almost impossible to get fired from. So, they SHOULD be paid less, and a lot less than they are.

I want schools to be run effectively and cost-effectively, like successful businesses. I want the employees, particularly teachers, to be held accountable for their actions and held to standards professionals are held to. And they should be paid based on performance; lousy teachers shouldn't get to stick around.

But, as Michelle Rhee showed in DC, it is exceedingly difficult to do because of parents who don't demand more of teachers.

"But Rs don't think that's enough..........they want to do to education what they've done to the postal system.........which is to run it into the ground."

Republicans have run the post office into the ground? That's rich. Once again, it's unions that have run the post office into the ground. When are you going to get off this "R's are bad" nonsense?
