It depends how one defines intelligence... A very subjective word, fraught with cultural bias landmines. Me smart... you stupid. Me Truth, you lies. However, a foundation of modern science which is usually part of a definition of intelligence, especially biology, is evolution vs. faith-based creationism. Their are roots in 18th century debates of materialism vs. spiritualism. A real world the environment (and humans) can influence vs. determinism. You still want to go to a science-based doctor than a Priest when you have a serious disease, is the Doctor more intelligent than the Priest?? Is the patient more intelligent for getting science and biology based treatment first??
