Apple shares jump as Icahn takes 'large position'

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Apple Inc saw its shares jump Tuesday afternoon after investor activist Carl Icahn touted his "large position" on the stock and claimed to have had a recent discussion with CEO Tim Cook. The stock was last trading up 4% to $486.45. "We currently have a large position in Apple. We believe the company to be extremely undervalued," Icahn tweeted. In another message, he said he had a "a nice conversation with Tim Cook today," adding that they "discussed my opinion that a larger buyback should be done now. We plan to speak again shortly." The stock has been picking up gains on anticipation of the next iPhone, , according to media reports.
