Just giving my viewpoint as a retired military reserve officer (on active duty for 8 years [1 and a half as an enlisted man] to include 1 year in Vietnam). Most officers I know will put aside aside their own personal feelings and carry out whatever the government's policy is, but they want it to work--in terms of soldiers getting the mission done.

I know from anecdotal knowledge that when more females (on a percentage basis) entered fields in the military that they had been previously banned from problems arose between soldiers (all the sexual harassment scandals)--so I expect some problems to arise as gays come out of the closet in the military.

I'm not saying they won't be manageable or solvable or that gays are to blame for this, just that in the normal course of things there will be "bumps' as the adjustments are made--or I think so based on what the past has revealed.
