There's another problem here- no way is that care "worth" 4 thousand bucks. Sure, they diaper you, and turn you over, and maybe spoon feed you- but these are low skilled folks working in these places. LVN's at most. And usually not even that- mostly you just get nurse's aides. You get a bed in a double or a quad- it's not like these places have private rooms- but they are money makers. But that profit is coming right from the tax payers- which seems pretty stupid to me. And I'm not sure getting the LTC insurance industry involved is the kind of answer I want- it just means there's yet another profit center with its gaping maw wide open to take more money out of the system. Single payer. Zero profit. And the wealthy can pay a shitload and opt out and go private if they want to.
