I guess I was thrown by the reference to the "welfare state" which is a term more readily employed by Tea Party types than ordinary street Democrats ..and there are certainly abuses of any system designed to help folks genuinely challenged by our capitalist, greed based system ..but it is incumbent on those whose mores dictate that Christian oriented solutions to dealing with the poor be favored, over neglect and starvation, to suggest improvements rather than elimination ..IMO of course
