You are talking about, IMHO, what our priorities should be. You would agree, I guess, that the government can't do every (good) thing right? There is just so much money to go around. So then if you as a person want to change the government's priorities you have to organize, attract both attention and money, vote for candidates who back your position, hire lobbyists to advocate to carry the message to congress, and grease some palms with campaign donations.
