I agree, but I think we will change as we learn i.e. more sophisticated social systems that get at the root problems regarding the poor and not just address the symptoms; and we will kill less for food. Some day people will be shocked at what we did to smart animals like pigs to get food, or our senseless killing of dolphins. I know in my family we have an ongoing debate about whether Natives should be allowed to kill whales. My ex's husband (was speaker of the house and is very liberal) says they need to do it. My ex and I say no. I don't know how we will change, but I am sure we will change for the better going forward.
