Christine, "even the tiniest fish in the tank will not be eaten by the larger fish, since they recognize their own species. I guess you could say this makes them very peaceful, civilized fish." It has nothing to do with recognizing their own species. It may have something to do with the fact that they lack the means to eat each other. It is indeed fortunate that you therefore do not have to figure out how to disarm them. Skipper
