Probably not on a day to day basis among ordinary human beings, but I think in the sense of giving us ethical imperatives in our thoughts as to what should be--and maybe--in the sense of at least acknowledging we can do better--and I do believe that some people and their governments influenced by people of the same make up, try to do this at certain levels. That is, implement humane programs that have their basis in the doctrine of compassion for one's fellow man--which I believe to be a basic tenet of many modern religions.
