CaT babe:

---->I sensed the the split ruined the effectiveness of your animals, and that is a shame because they had a lot of promise on the OEX.

So since the OEX is exiting out of the spotlight...are any of the others that you mentioned becoming a primary focus OR will it be all of them?

No, you misunderstand me.

The OEX is still my primary trading index.
It's just that the mainframe will be pointed in other explatory directions.
My programmer has tried to explain to me why a simple division by two can cause such a devestation but while he understands what he's telling me, I don't comprehend. It has a great deal to do with the rounding out of the numbers and now that the new index is halved the universe of info is corrupted to some degree. I trust his judgement so there is no need for me elaborate on that line.

The prem or the spread, as Pat said it the same, is what is the main drawback to the trading OEX and has been particularlly bad for the last few months.
This is my observation and has no statitical backup but the main reason for the split was to increase the trading volume which has been decreasing steadily for the past year. In the past I could anticipate that a move of a point or a point and a half was sufficient to break even----take care of the spread and the commission----now (depending on the dollar amount) it can take two or even three or sometimes four points to break even.

One of the things we're looking at that I failed to mention in my previous post is SPY. Now why I left it off is beyond me as it actually is the one to which we're going to devote our main attention. hmmmmm----mayhaps that is a Freudian slip.......gggg
The Spider can be shorted without an uptick, as I understand it, and pays dividends and is a complete mirror of the S&P 500.
The main disadvantage is that there will be a marked reduction in leverage due to the increased amont of money involved on my end but the way the spread has been, it could well be some of the same thing that Steve is talking about on one of the other threads you and I visit. Penny wise and pound foolish..........

Regards----Nemer
