This is one area that I think we need to focus on. Strange turn here with the release of Mubarak, not because of ill health and letting him spend the final years as a free person, but instead that he is no longer guilty of corruption. I am wondering why Obama is not calling for s special session of the UN Security Council.

This "Food Stamp" and "Welfare" is a non sense discussion. It is one of the several grand designs of the Republican party to rally their base to come out and vote in larger numbers. And they find that it is easier to include this as a agenda item since the President is an African American which fits in with the racial stereo type. There are many other issues that are more important such as jobs, foreign affairs (aid to other countries), gun laws, revamp of the criminal justice system etc.

To me, we are not doing enough with the Welfare system similar to what we doing with the criminal justice system. I consider doing enough with the welfare system where we not only help the existing generation to tide over with welfare, but we including our Govt. should go above and beyond to catch the younger generation of the welfare parents and ensure they get a good education, have healthy and productive clubs and associations where they group together for socialization and sports etc. Just get up and get it done. There is no substitute for a will to act.

Anyway, I hope we can cease and desist from discussing welfare and food stamps anymore since "that is what the right wing blog sphere is awash with these days." That is a better place to take such discussions to. Please do not consider this thread as an outlet for right wing material.

Review does no good done by people of little compassion who only want to destroy the system.

Ohio and NC both have govs who are venal morons.

<<
Good reasons there why an entitlement benefits review will be coming.

Also good reason why politicians need to shift to a central theme--jobs, jobs, and more jobs. It is more in the states that this debate is taking place.

Ohio and NC are two examples of that as they made structural changes to their budgets and have job attraction programs. Ohio's Governor also accepted the Federal deal for the expansion of Medicaid health insurance while NC did not.

Obama is attempting to change the focus to this (jobs) with his recent speeches, but Republicans seemingly don't get it yet.

Notice the media has not stated the race of the teen suspects? No mug shots? Wonder why?
