The police have psychological screening to weed out the authoritarian, wanna-be Dirty Harry's. Neighborhood Watch's, not so much. Frightening that you represent the serf mentality increasingly prevalent. Do you ever pay attention to the news? You might learn something by searching "Rodney Balko", who documents the expanding tendency of the police to engage in atrocious behavior. I can't vouch for every member of neighborhood watches, but note they tend to be the kind of citizen I like having around. Especially if armed, I know they contribute to the safety of me and mine.

O.K, let's say Zimmerman had gone through EXTENSIVE psychological screening. Let's also say that the screening had found him to be fit to be a neighborhood watchman. Then let's say that he saw this fellow walking through the neighborhood and he was wondering what this person had in mind because the neighborhood had been robbed several times in the previous months. He JUST wanted to see what this person was doing. He just wanted to find out what this person was doing and where he was going but INSTEAD this person SMASHED him in the face and then got on top of him. That person then started smashing his head against the concrete. ALL Trayvon had to do was TELL Zimmerman that he was going back to his Father's girlfriend's house. Instead he ATTACKED.....
