As prices come down the bulb 38% and tube 24% replacement markets appear to the HIGH growth segment for 2014.

This article talks about the global regions and the explosive numbers in CAGR amongst the major growth areas:

eetindia.co.in

cohuseg.com

the value of the LED lighting market in 2014 will rise to $17.8 billion with total shipments of LED lighting products reaching 1.32 billion units. This represents a 68 per cent YoY growth,

I have learned of this market after Cohu bought a turret handler company called ismeca.

With CAGR like this there must be other equipment makers poised to have a growing back order of tools required to make LED's.

Ismeca is the number 1 maker of turret handlers and they have recently introduced a new 32 station turret handler - an advancement from the previouos 16 and 20 station turret handler.

The other key equipment maker I'm aware of is VEECO:

Below is their Q3 2013 webcast pages - note pages 15-20 refer Mocvd which applies to the LED manufacturing segment of their business. They confirm what Donahue at Cohu said that utilization rates are in the 80-90 percent and stabilizing but customers are cautious to make expansion commitments:

Hope this helps get evryone up to speed in what appears to be an overcaacity situation in a very high growth sector (which in these days is darn hard to find.

It seems to me,that buying LED equipment makers in this overcapacity trough will be much like it was in the good ole PC cycle days.

There has to be more than Veeco and Cohu????
