i do not believe shorting APM here was your best possible choice.
many things could trigger a short squeeze here, and we all know that there are people who squeeze companies in apm's position intentionally to manipulate the stock price, just look at Vinik recently and VVUS.

with more than half the outstanding shares shorted, and the stock already trading so low, a short squeeze would not be surprising.

my point?

i think putting the money into RDRT would have been smarter move. you would get the tax write off for 1997, and be in a company with a brighter 1998 future, imo
