You have the right to be disarmed. I have the right not to be disarmed.

Why? Cause if the worst happens, I want to be able to defend my family.

This happed within the past year: My SIL had a pitbull break through a backyard fence and bite the head off a chihuahua they owned. Another family dog, a female mixed German shepherd-Lab, defended herself and the pitbull latched onto her foot and wouldn't let go. My SIL got his shotgun, went out and clubbed the pitbull off and dragged his own dog inside the house. They called police who came out and declined to do anything to the pitbull still in their backyard. They did say, "You can take care of it yourself." (I suppose the police would only shoot the dog if it attacked THEM. There may be policy reasons for that. ) So after they left he went out and shot the pitbull to death.

What would YOU have done?
