Too many unknowns to draw conclusions. If you assume that the 1 million Windows Phones retired in July were ALL wp7 phones, rather than a random mix of the WPs in circulation, then the number of new Windows Phones added calculates to 900K for the month. Somewhere between 1 million and 4 million lies the truth. I like that they reference what they calculated last quarter to "calibrate" their model, though. I see they were only optimistic by 16% last quarter using this method, so maybe they will be that close this time too.
