I don't know if he was in mortal danger or not and NEITHER do you. I do know it's difficult to go into the "fetal position" when a guy is sitting on your chest. I don't doubt that Zimmerman was a "wannabe cop", but there was a lot of crime in that neighborhood, especially after the recession hit and several people seemed to appreciate Zimmerman's contribution to the neighborhood.

I've been in Z's position before, that is, having my head beaten into the hard pavement by someone I'd never seen before and for no apparent reason. Had I had a weapon at the time, I might well have used it. Was my life in mortal danger? Looking back, probably not -- OTOH, the guy who attacked me did kill a guy in a bar fight a couple years later and went to prison for it. You just don't know over the course of 60 seconds where it might lead. I'm not sure why you're being so hard-headed about this. It is obvious that you have one view, and most other people have a different view. You're entitled to yours. Why don't you just move on?
