It isn't a matter of conscience, it is a matter of their tunnel vision and only seeing what they are allowed to see or what they want to believe.

not any different than an ostrich stinking his head in a hole.

Less, I'm not inclined to say that Zimmerman was correct in profiling Trayvon. I do know that black youths all across the nation are often profiled as thugs and gangstas, including fellow Ivy League classmates of mine.

I'm also not inclined to say who started the fight that ended up with Trayvon pummeling Zimmerman's head into the pavement. I don't believe (like Ted does) that Zimmerman essentially started the fight by tailing Martin. But I also don't know for sure whether Martin jumped Zimmerman. I don't think Zimmerman jumped Martin, that's for sure.

I do believe, however, that Zimmerman would have profiled a young white kid in a hoodie the exact same way. And if that kid ended up getting shot the same way Trayvon Martin did, no one other than his parents would have given a damn.

This is why I believe the race card in the Zimmerman case was overplayed. Yes, black youths have to deal with the profiling, but what can we do about it? Castigate anyone who dares to discriminate? That's the liberal agenda, but it's not my agenda.
