Government, education and the media are equally complicit.

Government - Through policies of high taxation and inflation, it has moved both parents of a household into the workforce just to maintain a given standard of living.

Education & Media - After assuring the intellectual lobotomizing of kids through it's liberal "dumbing down" policies, Education has attained, with the entertainment industry by it's side, the "numbing down" of the same kids. The liberals of these two institutions have never made a distinction between free speech (in which the speaker recognizes his responsibility for avoiding socially corrosive speech) and unbridled speech (the speaker recognizes no responsibility for socially corrosive speech).

Two proxies that bring this to light are bumper stickers and T-shirts. There is in the land a rampant arms race in language put to bumper stickers and T-shirts to out-extreme the others with foul language and ideas. People now could care less who they offend in public just to be "cool." And these are usually the same "socially conscious" people confessing their love for nature and the Earth. But they could care less for the social environment they're polluting and living in.

“He said he was bored out of his mind the week before school started and decided to hunt some kittens.”

I can't remember ever being bored. I can only attribute this to the successful dumbing down campaign of the left. Kids used to make their own fun and were inventive in such. I'm astounded today at the lack of curiosity and self-motivation of some kids. Over-stimulation by media may have a big part in this (everything is constantly "on" and when the music stops "boredom" sets in). I don't think "quiet time" is part of life any more.

50 Christian churches burned to ground in days {Egypt]
World Net Daily ^ | 8-23-13

Christians in Egypt are under the worst persecution by Islamic radicals in recent memory, Syrian believers are displaced in massive numbers and the effort to assist them in both countries goes on despite tremendous upheaval in both nations.

Most of the recent attention has been focused on Egypt. Christians have been in the Muslim Brotherhood’s cross-hairs since the 2011 Arab Spring, but the persecution has greatly intensified in the weeks following the July 3 coup that removed Mohammed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood from power. The violence is a result of radical leaders blaming the coup on Christians. It’s a palpably false claim, but it carries great resonance with those loyal to Morsi.

Obama's political immaturity is equaled only by his bloated self-regard, and America’s adversaries have taken definitive advantage of the debilitating flaws of his temperament.
