I understand you think democracy is great. You've only set it about ten thousand times. No need to repeat that again.

I might not be as exited about it as you are but I think its pretty good (at least compared to the alternative ways of setting up a government as well).

None of that is relevant to the conversation we where having.

Democracy is better than other ways of choosing a government, arguably not just better but tremendously better. But your still creating a forcible monopoly over people. That probably has to be done but its best that its limited. The less limits it has, and the more it slips loose of those limits (only one of which is elections, the others are not so much issues about democracy, but issues of openness, constitutional limitations, limited government, the rule of law, belief in and support of freedom etc.)

Government is what a democratic people say it is and should be.

Its supposed to be what the law (primarily the constitution as the government can easily change the other laws) says it should be.

Also the fact that people vote in politicians doesn't mean the government can't be clumsy, wrong headed, illegal (in that it goes past or against its constitutional limitations), and/or abusive. The fact that the politicians get elected, doesn't mean the government should get some sort of pass in those situations.
