>> Dems try to be compassionate. We try very hard.

Everyone tries. That was Friedman's point. "Trying" doesn't mean much if you destroy people's lives in the process.

Eric Holder's War on Poor Black Kids

Marcus Ebenhack

From the New Orleans Times-Picayune:

"The U.S. Justice Department is suing Louisiana in New Orleans federal court to block 2014-15 vouchers for students in public school systems that are under federal desegregation orders. The first year of private school vouchers "impeded the desegregation process," the federal government says."

Does this constitute black on black crime? It certainly appears, on the surface, to be just another attempt from the left to ensure that poor black kids grow up to be poor black Democratic voting adults.

The article goes on to state:

"The Justice Department's primary argument is that letting students leave for vouchered private schools can disrupt the racial balance in public school systems that desegregation orders are meant to protect. Those orders almost always set rules for student transfers with the school system."

Again, diversity, merely for the sake of diversity, that holy grail of liberalism, is the goal, quality education for underprivileged students be damned.

I wrote about Democratic efforts to keep poor kids poor on these pages some time back and the only thing that has changed in the interim is the level of blatancy and shamelessness with which they pursue this goal.

How any honest parent of a poor black child forced to attend a failing public school, regardless of its "level of segregation", can remain loyal to the Democratic Party in general, and the Obama administration in particular, is a complete mystery. These people are sacrificing their own children on the altar of Progressivism to further the liberal agenda, which much more often than not, is in direct conflict with the interests of poor blacks, the "Gang of Eight's" comprehensive immigration bill being only the most recent example.

Louisiana Republican Governor Bobby Jindal actually does something to help these kids and in reply, the progressive mob of Barack Obama and his Department of Justice marshal the power of the state to take up the cause of teachers unions over that of poor black students. Not only Bobby Jindal, but conservatives across the country have been supporting school choice programs for decades, yet it is Republicans who are perceived as the party of cold-hearted rich whites, while the Democrats continue to sell themselves as the party of compassion, protecting the poor and middle class. The media keep pushing this meme, and sadly, the victims keep buying it.
