>>> the company has made many positive announcemnets, and we went no where. The TA indicators crossed the various lines, and we went no where. Maria B. gets on TV and all of a sudden, BOOM, here we go !!<<<

I don't agree with that scenario at all. I pay little attention to such rumors as the buy-out by LU...we've all heard that one before -- LU supposedly is going to buy-out half the of the Nasdaq.

ASND shares began to have a powerful rally soon following the DMG conference. Lee gave us a heads-up to that likelihood a day before it occured. Apparently, awareness of the DMG conference was not widely known...Lee was the only person to learn of it, both here at SI and at the Fool. I would be more inclined to believe that the media saw the rally, and for lack of discerning the force(s) behind it, they put an ear to the trading floor (Maria), and raised the LU rumor from the dead once again. You hear what you want to hear, and it's CNBC's desire to make sure we "heard it [there] first". Of course, such speculations spreads like wildfire throughout the market once such reporting hits the wires, and this feeds upon itself and aids the rally in progress. Notice that the other media sources only quoted CNBC for the LU takeover rumors. Also notice how CNBC is already sweeping the dust under the rug...bygones, right?

I believe the rally was initiated and sustained by the fundamental outlook improving, the CFO's comments at the DMG conference, and the assurance that the company will meet Q4 estimates. The rumors sparked by CNBC fueled the buying in the latter stages.
