Windows Phone has always had an API that allows applications and web apps to interact with live tiles in real time, supporting push notifications.

Its much cleaner than Android, which is just a mess.

If the WP team is building a notification center, it's because they think they need it to market to all the moron Android users who think notification centers are important. In WP, a notification center adds redundant functionality and distracts them from more pressing needs in the OS, but The Android Morons require it, so what choice do they have? You cannot reason with The Android Morons.
