A fine day for IMRS. However, ORCL news may hit the entire tech sector tomorrow since they are blaming their shortfall on the Asian crisis.

On the other hand, the Y2K stocks may be seen as a hedge against lower earnings in the tech sector from the trouble in Asia. In any case, IMRS has had a strong resurgence.

MUTUAL FUND OWNERSHIP

A few weeks ago I asked the Morningstar StockTool Product Manager to include IMRS as part of the stocks they cover. While I follow the company rather closely I was really surprised by the information ON Mutual Fund ownership. During the past month 6,900,000 shares of IMRS was aquired by 6 mutual funds. Leading the list was Lord Abbett Developing Growth fund which aquired 5,736,000 shares. Putnam OTC & Emerging Growth Fund aquired 514,000 shares. The Lord Abbett fund is up about 10% more this year than the Russell 2000 index which it generally tracks. It is rated A+ for its 3 year performance and is up 32% for the year. The IMRS holdings represent 1.5% of the fund assets. If indeed the fund bought the shares in November they have done extremely well. I overlaid the IMRS chart on the LAGWX chart.IMRS is certainly helping the recent fund performance. While the fund may take profits if IMRS does well it is most likely almost 35% of the 17 million shares are not likely to be sold very soon. I intend to track the Mutual fund data which I get monthly.
